Exposição Coletiva Timor 20+
Hasoru-malu – Exposição coletiva Timor 20+ reúne obras de alguns dos principais artistas visuais timorenses em atividade, apresentando as suas perspetivas – de sociedade, cultura, identidade; passado, presente e futuro – e traçando um panorama da arte contemporânea em Timor-Leste.
São mais de 50 obras de 15 artistas de várias gerações, estilos e linguagens, incluindo pintura, desenho, videoarte, instalação e fotografia, selecionadas pela curadoria de Maria Madeira, uma das mais celebradas artistas visuais contemporâneas timorenses.
Hasoru-malu, em tétum, significa ‘encontrar-se’, ‘encontro’, enquanto soru quer dizer 'tecer' e, soru-malu,'conectar', 'entrelaçar'. Para os artistas participantes, esta é uma oportunidade de (re)unirem-se, concertando esforços para contribuírem para o desenvolvimento da indústria cultural e criativa do seu país, ao mesmo tempo em que esperam abrir caminho – nacional e internacionalmente – para jovens artistas emergentes, que têm a chance de divulgar o seu trabalho por meio da parede dinâmica, área da exposição atualizada semanalmente.
Promovida pela Fundação Oriente com o apoio de uma série de parceiros, a mostra tem S. Ex.ª Presidente-eleito, Laureado Nobel da Paz, Dr. José Ramos-Horta, como patrono e decorre no âmbito das comemorações dos 20 anos da Restauração da Independência de Timor-Leste, em maio de 2022, que coincide com os 20 anos da inauguração da Delegação da Fundação Oriente no país.
Collective Exhibition Timor 20+
Hasoru-malu – Collective exhibition Timor 20+ brings together works by some of the foremost active Timorese visual artists to present an overview of contemporary art in Timor-Leste, and their vision – of society, culture, identity; past, present, and future – when the country reaches 20 years.
There are more than 50 works by 15 artists of different generations, styles, and languages, including painting, drawing, video art, installation, and photography, selected by the curatorship of Maria Madeira, one of the most celebrated Timorese contemporary visual artists.
Hasoru-malu, in Tetun, means to meet, while soru is ‘weave’, soru-malu meaning ‘to connect’, ‘interlace’. To the participant artists, some of whom are deeply involved in the organization of the event, this an opportunity to come together and (re)unite, joining efforts to contribute to the development of the creative industry in their country, positioning Timor-Leste’s contemporary art within the international arts scene, while opening path – nationally and internationally – to young, emerging artists, who may bring their artworks to show at the exhibition’s dynamic wall, refreshed every week.
Organized by Fundação Oriente, with the support of several partners and the patronage of H.E. President-elect and Nobel Prize Laureate, Mr. José Ramos-Horta, the show integrates the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Restoration of Timor-Leste's Independence, in May 2022, which also coincides with the 20 years since the official opening of Fundação Oriente’s Delegation in the country.
